Following my post yesterday, I have spoken with the academic librarian about the issue of subscription and charging on journal articles and it appears this:
1. The problem only occurs if you log in to QM plus off campus. If you access it using any QM machine you will not be asked for a subscription.
2. If you want to access the material off campus, all of your QM log ins (with exception of demo log ins) carry the institutions access. So with almost all journals you will find an option in the log in screen saying 'log in as institutional user' or something similar. Your QM username and password will get you access. Once you have done this once for a journal, you shoudnt need to do it again on the same PC.
