GEG4011 Introduction to Research Methods

Module Convenor: Elsa Noterman

Module Level: 4

Semester: A&B

This module introduces the research process and highlights the diversity of approaches to research.  Weekly lectures will guide you through key aspects of research design and the theoretical background to a wide range of methods in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), qualitative and quantitative research. Linked practical sessions will provide you with training in data collection, handling and the application of these methods using industry-standard software packages.  Over the course of the module, you will be applying the research methods that you learn in the classroom by undertaking a research project in Tower Hamlets borough, and learning how to communicate research results by developing your own research StoryMap.

StoryMaps developed in this module will provide the basis for an East London Atlas.
