  • If you are unable to complete an assignment or in-class test due to circumstances that are outside of your control you can apply for extenuating circumstances (ECs). Extenuating Circumstances are unforeseeable and outside of your control. This can include physical illness, mental health crisis, being a victim of crime, and sometimes personal issues regarding family illness or other personal crisis.

Please note that extenuating circumstances do not include events such as computer problems, planned holidays, conflicting deadlines, running out of time, computer failure, difficulty in obtaining books from the library, minor transport delays or having to take paid work.

To apply for ECs you will need to use the task on MySIS. Please note that any requests for extensions must be made no earlier than one before and no later than 24 hours after the assessment deadline.

If you are unsure whether you can apply for ECs you can contact us on sllf-studentsupport@qmul.ac.uk
