Politics and Fiction
is conceived as a broad-based survey course, introducing students to an
international range of classic and contemporary texts in English, in which
a broad selection of political themes are treated. Through close readings of extracts from the designated texts, students will analyse and evaluate the literary techniques from the realms of persuasion and critique. The course assumes no prior
experience of literary study, and is examined through two written assignments. Weekly lectures will be pre-recorded and made available via QM+, with a one-hour weekly seminar in which group discussion of the week's reading will take place.
