Things to Consider Before Selecting SEF Modules

Mathematical Background Requirement
Many modules offered by the School of Economics & Finance make extensive use of mathematics, statistics, and quantitative techniques. As a minimum, students are expected to have a mathematical (calculus) background equivalent to UK A-Level Mathematics (or an equivalent qualification in their home country).
Before selecting modules, you should ensure that you are comfortable with core mathematical concepts, including algebra, calculus, and basic statistical methods. Students without a strong quantitative background may find some modules particularly challenging and should review module prerequisites carefully before making their selections.
Examinations
Please note that all final assessments for all modules within the School of Economics and Finance are in-person, invigilated examinations held at Queen Mary University of London. Exams cannot be taken online or at an alternative location, so you must be available in London for the full examination period.
If you are unable to attend an exam due to exceptional circumstances beyond your control, such as illness, you may submit an Extenuating Circumstances claim (more information on this will be communicated to you when you start your exchange). Where approved, you will be offered a first sit (uncapped) opportunity at the next availability examination period.
When considering modules offered by the School of Economics & Finance, please ensure that you are able to remain in London for all applicable assessment periods, including the main examination period and any subsequent first sit or reassessment examinations, where required.
