  • Online Essay-Based Exam Timing

    • Your exam is 2 hours in length, plus any additional time recommended by the DDS (if applicable)
    • You must write your answer within the 2 hours
    • You must then upload after the 2 hours ends, and you have 30 minutes to do so
    • If you take longer than 30 minutes to upload your answer, but less than 40 minutes, you will be penalised 10% of the total marks
    • If you take 40 minutes or longer, your work will not be accepted for marking in the real exam

Upload your work first to QMPlus, then email to the exam submission email address as an extra precaution.

Please ensure that you have a good internet connection and give yourself plenty of time to upload your exam.

    • Please read through these FAQs and Answers re: timed essay-based exams.

    • The Exam Paper Instruction Sheet

If the Dyslexia and Disability Service (DDS) have issued you with a coversheet for use in your examinations, please attach a copy of this to the end of your answer.

It is recommended that you save your work at least every 15 minutes. Do not risk losing it.

You may include tables, figures and references in your answer.  Good practice is to include a legend for tables and figures; references may follow Vancouver, Harvard or APA referencing format.

Include your final word count in the box provided.  The word count includes sub-headings and citations but excludes tables, legends and references.

Your submission MUST be in Word (.doc or .docx) file format.

☐ Name the file using the following format: ModuleCode_QuestionNumber_ for example PSY212_Q1_12345678.

Do NOT include your name in the file name or anywhere within your answer.

☐ You must submit by uploading your answer to QMPlus. You have 2 hours to write your answer, and you have up to 30 minutes to upload the exam. If the exam is uploaded after 30 minutes but before 40 minutes after the 2 hour deadline, you will incur a late penalty of 10% of the total mark. After 40 minutes no submission will be accepted.

☐ As an added security measure email an identical copy to what you submitted (bit-wise comparisons will be made to ensure the files are completely identical – do not make any changes whatsoever) to sbbs-psych-onlineassessment@qmul.ac.uk

☐ You can only upload one document, once. Resubmissions are NOT permitted.

Your answers must be your own work, and you must ensure that you do not break any of the rules in the Academic Misconduct Policy. Please be aware that all submissions will be subject to review, including but not limited to analysis by the plagiarism detection software Turnitin.

You will NOT be able to view a Turnitin report.””
