China’s is now arguably the most influential actor in the Global South. The
methods that China has used in establishing itself as a global actor and the accompanying controversies

of contemporary international relations. The module focuses on what China is
doing in the Global South, how it is perceived and what this means. These
themes will be analysed through an exciting survey of China’s engagement in
Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and the South Pacific.
