Fundamentals of Medical Sciences is a Year 1 module on the Nanchang Joint Programme. Students will be introduced to fundamentals of medical sciences, which may include topics on medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry of genetics and functional anatomy. Students will be introduced to basic concepts in chemistry such as intermolecular forces, stereochemistry and the relationships between different functional groups in chemical structures of drugs and their activities. Students will also study an introduction on how different molecular structures of drugs can affect their physicochemical properties which subsequently impact on the stability of medicines.
