Reward management is one of the key components of human resource management. It is one of the most sensitive and problematic areas of people management that poses additional issues when cast in an international setting. The module covers key pay principles, including market benchmarking, job architecture, and the influence of economic and regulatory factors, with particular attention to pay transparency, and compliance across jurisdictions. Contemporary issues such as executive pay, pay equity, and DEI are explored to highlight the growing importance of fairness and accountability in reward decisions. A practical workshop on negotiation and collective bargaining will develop students’ understanding of pay determination processes, stakeholder dynamics, and negotiation challenges. Finally, students will consider the role of technology, analytics, and communication in delivering agile, employee-centered reward strategies. These issues are examined at several levels: internationally, nationally and organizationally by engaging with topical case studies and practical examples.
