this module is a compulsory module for all our first year Accounting students to learn about the fundamentals of financial accounting and it aims to provide a broad understanding of the role of accounting in the context of business and society.  

In this module, you will be introduced to the basic concepts and principles underlying the financial accounting (double entry system of bookkeeping) and the impact of each transaction upon the financial performance and financial position of a business.  

In addition to the above essential content, we will also introduce you to the role of International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).  

The format of the module is a 1-hour lecture plus 2-hour workshop on a weekly basis, which is compulsory for all students.
