This module will introduce you to new technological approaches for monitoring species, populations and individuals. You will learn about spatial analyses, including geographical information systems (GIS), as applied to studies of animal movement and habitats. As part of this, you will also look at the use of drones and GPS trackers, and will learn about technology-assisted monitoring approaches, including bioacoustics, camera trapping, environmental DNA sampling and genomics. Examples will cover animals and plants from terrestrial and aquatic systems.
