Statistical
Data Analysis teaches key aspects of probability and statistics, data analysis,
and machine learning, as applied to
discovering, classifying, and measuring new phenomena.
It draws on examples from a wide range of applications, within physics and
beyond. Students will learn to deploy established techniques, often from the
forefront of research, to solve statistical problems. They will learn to critically asses the
statistical methods used in cutting-edge scientific research papers, and to
apply practical programming techniques for more advanced analysis, including
state-of-the-art tools used in contemporary research.
