This module examines a cross-section of texts from Africa, the Caribbean, South Asia, and elsewhere, in the light of central concerns of postcolonial studies, including migration, exile, the legacies of slavery, myths of empire, nationalism, the relationship between oral and literary cultures, and the tensions between tradition and modernity.
