Each year we remind you that you must disclose any Criminal Proceedings to us as required by the GMC. For further information, see the overview and guidance documents above.
The General Medical Council (GMC) requires all Medical Students to inform their Medical School immediately they are involved with criminal misconduct. Please remember that this includes Penalty Notices or fines for Disorder from the police or penalty fines issued by bus or rail companies. Penalty fines issued by transport companies are included here because travelling without paying is classed as fraud.
In the main, disclosure to us result in an administrative process which clears up all past penalty charges and avoids them cluttering up transition processes in year five. In the last few years, the majority of student disclosures have been linked with penalty charges relating to OysterCards or railcards.
Some students have disclosed other matters involving the police, or misuse of drugs, or misuse of alcohol.
All disclosures are dealt with through Professional Capability Committee oversight. Our processes are outlined in the above guidance.
We have developed a standard form to help you tell us what we need to know. (below)
Please use this form to record any interaction that you have had with Transport for London or any other Rail/bus/hovercraft firm where you were issued with a penalty fare or fine.
Also, record any time that you received a caution from the police, or transport police or community police and any time you were summoned to appear in a court of law, other than as a witness in relation to someone else's actions.
If in doubt, record it.
- Please complete the disclosure form electronically and submit to smd-pcc@qmul.ac.uk.
- Note, all forms must be completed eletronically, handwritten forms will not be accepted.
