AppsAnywhere

Accessing QMplus Archives Off Campus

What is AppsAnywhere?

AppsAnywhere is QMUL's software service that allows students to access university applications from their own computer, wherever they are.

Using AppsAnywhere, you can:

  • Access approved QMUL software without being on campus.
  • Use applications through the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment.
  • Access the QMplus Archive to view content from previous academic years.
  • Review older module materials and resources when they are available to you.

Why Might I Need This?

When the QMplus Archive is opened through AppsAnywhere, it launches in a restricted browser window. This can make it difficult to:

  • Open multiple tabs.
  • View content from different modules at the same time.
  • Compare archived materials side-by-side.
  • Navigate between pages in the way you would normally expect in a web browser.

If you need to work with several archive pages at once, the workaround below may help.

Workaround: Open Additional Browser Windows

Step 1

Open AppsAnywhere and launch Microsoft Edge within the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment.

Step 2

Launch the QMplus Archive through AppsAnywhere as normal.

Step 3

Enter Full Screen mode.

Step 4

Press Ctrl + N on your keyboard.

This should open a new Microsoft Edge window within the virtual desktop.

Step 5

In the new window, navigate to:

https://archive.qmplus.qmul.ac.uk/

Step 6

You can now:

  • Open additional tabs or windows.
  • Arrange windows side-by-side.
  • Navigate more easily between archive pages.

Step 7

Once you have opened the windows you need, you can exit Full Screen mode if preferred.

Benefits

Using this workaround can make it easier to:

  • Compare content from different archived modules.
  • Move between archive pages more efficiently.
  • View multiple resources at the same time.
  • Work more comfortably when using the QMplus Archive remotely.
