Changing permissions for specific activities

Students should never be enrolled on QMplus courses with the Teacher or Non-editing Teacher role, because these roles provide access to confidential student information. However, there may be situations where students need teacher-level permissions for specific activities, such as peer assessment or peer support. QMplus allows these permissions to be assigned at the activity level, enabling students to carry out these tasks without being granted access to sensitive student data.

How to give students different permissions for specific activities

1. Open your QMplus course.

2. Turn editing on.

3. Scroll to the relevant activity, click the 3 vertcal dots to the right of the title and choose Assign roles from the list.

The menu displayed when you click the three dots

4. On the next page click on the role you would like to use, Non-editing teacher is a good choice if you don't want the student to be able to edit the activities settings.

5. On the right hand side you will see a list of Potential users, this is a list of people who are already enrolled on your course but do not have this permission. you can either choose from the list and click the pinkĀ Add button and they will be moved into the Existing users box.

The box that allows you to select students

It is likely you will have too many students enrolled on your course for them to appear in the Potential users box, in this case you can search for them by typing their name or email address into the search box below. When they appear, click their name to select it and click the Add button.
