General Information

This guide applies to Barts Cancer Institute, Blizard Institute, William Harvey Research Institute, Wolfson Institute for Population Health.

This guide answers the questions most frequently raised by Programme Directors and Module Leads ahead of the rollout of the new QMplus standardised template. It sets out what the Digital Learning Team will deliver, what is required from module and programme teams, and how to get in touch for support.

Semester One modules will be prepared over the summer of 2026, Semester Two and Three will be prepared in the Autumn of 2026.

1. What will the Digital Learning Team do?

  • Transfer all existing content into the new academic year and apply the new template. This process is happening now, and we will contact you when your module sites are ready for you to update teaching content.

  • Set up submission points for summative assessments.

  • Map enrolments from MySIS so that students are automatically enrolled.

  • Liaise with the Faculty Programme Team to ensure module information, such as aims and learning outcomes, matches the Module and Programme Directory.

  • Update content on Student Support tab where necessary.

2. What do I need to do?

  • Update the Welcome section and the “How to get the best out of your module” section.

  • Review and refresh all teaching content, such as lecture slides and learning materials.

  • Complete a QA check before module release, covering the timetable, module information, and assessment submission points.

  • Once the site is finalised, confirm with your Programme Team that the QA check is complete and that you are happy for the module to be released to students before 7 September 2026.

  • Respond promptly to requests from our team for images relevant to your module, for use as a header and module image which we will upload.

3. How will programme-level QMplus sites work?

For programmes using a single site with modules organised in sections:

  • A Programme Site will be created, and content from your previous Programme Site, including any Programme Handbook, will be copied across and updated in liaison with the Faculty Programme Team.

  • Module sites will be created with content copied across in the same way as outlined above. All modules will be linked to the Programme Site so that the structure mirrors your previous set-up.

4. How will lecture capture be set up?

  • QReview (EchoVideo) will be set up as standard.

  • If Microsoft Teams is required instead, please let us know and we will work with you to find the best approach.

  • All recordings must be hosted in EchoVideo and linked within QMplus rather than embedded.

5. What if my module has specific or complex requirements?

If you feel your module site needs a more tailored setup, the Digital Learning Team may contact you directly, or you are welcome to get in touch to arrange a discussion. The Digital Learning Officers have been working on your sites for many years already and are familiar with where there may be concerns we will work with you as creatively as possible within the requirements of standardisation.

6. Where can I get support?

The Digital Learning Team is here to help. Please contact us for advice or guidance at any stage of the rollout — we are committed to supporting you throughout the implementation of the new template.

Each Institute has a team member that is a main contact, but all members of the team work across four Institutes, Please use the shared inbox - fmd-digitallearning@qmul.ac.uk:
