Embedding and sharing EchoVideo content

There are several ways to share EchoVideo content with students and colleagues, depending on how you want the material to be accessed.

Embed a single video in QMplus

EchoVideo Playlists in QMplus: Managing Autoplay Settings

When creating and embedding an EchoVideo playlist in QMplus, there are two separate autoplay-related settings that need to be checked to prevent videos from playing automatically.

Before Selecting Media

After clicking the EchoVideo embed button and creating a new playlist, you will be presented with playlist settings before selecting any videos.

At this stage, ensure that:
• Auto-play Next is not selected.
When Auto-play Next is enabled, the next video in the playlist will automatically begin when the current video finishes. This setting controls playback between videos within the playlist.

During the Embed Process

After selecting your media and proceeding to the Embed Media Options screen, ensure that:
• Autoplay is not selected.
This setting controls whether the playlist begins playing automatically when the page loads.

"Autoplay" and and "automute" options as well as embed size and player options

Important Limitation

If a playlist has already been embedded with the incorrect autoplay settings, these settings cannot currently be edited on the existing embedded playlist.

To change the settings:
1. Remove the existing playlist from QMplus.
2. Create and embed a new playlist.
3. Ensure both Auto-play Next and Autoplay are disabled during the creation process.

Additional Playlist Limitation
EchoVideo playlists currently have limited editing functionality. Once a playlist has been created, there is no option to directly edit the playlist configuration in the same way that individual media items can be edited.

Share using an external embed link

You can generate an external embed link to share EchoVideo content outside of QMplus, for example on websites or with external audiences.

Embed EchoVideo content outside QMplus (or for public access)

Start in EchoVideo

Create an embed code or direct link

  1. Go to your EchoVideo library.
  2. Open the video you want to share.
  3. Select the Publishing tab.
  4. Choose Embed
(or select URL if you want a direct link instead).
  5. Select Create embed code.

A confirmation message will appear when the embed code or link is ready.

Set public access

  • You will see a Public access option.
  • If this is enabled, anyone with the link can view the video, including people outside Queen Mary.
  • If it is disabled, only authorised users will be able to access the content.

Consider carefully whether your video should be publicly available.

Use the embed code

  • Copy the embed code (or URL).
  • Paste it into the website, platform, or page where you want the video to appear.

Your video will then be accessible in the location you have chosen.

Can students download embedded videos on QMplus?

Yes. Videos embedded on QMplus sites using the EchoVideo (Q-Review) icon or embed code can still be downloaded by students or other enrolled users. Embedded videos cannot be fully download-protected.

How can I prevent students from downloading videos?

To restrict downloading, add the video to a Class and set the Class to “No downloads”. This disables download access for enrolled users.
Please note: The “No downloads” setting does not affect videos that are embedded on QMplus pages. It only applies to videos accessed within a Class.

Where can I find further guidance?

Please see the Classes section of the Essential Staff Guide.
