Universal Capture

Back to EchoVideo (Q-Review) User Guides

You can create a Q-Review recording even when you are not teaching in a Q-Review-enabled lecture room. This is done using Universal Capture (previously known as Personal Capture), which allows you to record your screen, audio, and optional webcam video from your own computer.

Before you start

To use Universal Capture, you will need:

  • A Q-Review account. Sign in using the Log in via Institution option. If you experience any login issues, please raise a ticket with theĀ IT Service Desk.
  • Access to a Q-Review section where your recordings can be stored. If you do not already have one, raise a ticket with the IT Service Deskand request that a section be created.
  • A microphone for recording audio. You can also use a webcam if you would like to include video in your recording.

Installing Universal Capture

Universal Capture cannot be installed by users directly. To request installation:

  1. Raise a ticket with the IT Service Desk requesting that Universal Capture be installed on your device.
  2. Once the software has been installed, sign in using the Log in via Institution option.
  3. Select the Q-Review section where you would like your recordings to be published.

You can then use Universal Capture to record presentations, demonstrations, narrated slides, or other teaching materials from your computer and upload them directly to Q-Review.
