Power Plays
Level 4 (15 credits)
Power Plays explores how power dynamics, especially in relation to race, gender, disability and cultural identity, have been examined through play texts, performance and critical debates. We will explore these issues through practical workshops, developing your skills in play text analysis, performance and technical theatre skills. The module also aims to develop your critical vocabulary for analysing power and aspects of identity, and skills in reading, research and writing.
Preparing for this Module and Approximate Costs
We advise you to read the full play text of 'Antigone' before the start of the module. This can be access for free via Drama Online using your Queen Mary log in details.
You will need to acquire your own copies of one or two play texts for this module. Note that these costs can be often be reduced by purchasing items second-hand or borrowing them from the Library.
You may incur some small costs for make up, costume or props for your final performance. Note that these costs can be reduced by using what is available to you already, either at home, or in our theatre space.
