Topic 1: Introduction to the module and the assignment
Objectives
The aim of the module is to enable students to analyse and evaluate health care systems in both developed and developing countries from the perspective of equity of access to comprehensive health care services.
Learning Outcomes
Academic content: Systematic knowledge of mechanisms for sharing the costs of ill health through financing methods; critical awareness of theories underpinning models of health care financing; Advanced knowledge of methods and concepts of financial risk and resource allocation underpinning universal access to health care.
Disciplinary skills: analyse health care systems from the perspective of equity of access; critically appraise health care policy from the perspective of public health goals; synthesise research findings with respect to equity of access and universal health care
Attributes: A global perspective with respect to access to health care; Research and policy analysis capacity with respect to public health
