11.4. Examination Access Arrangements

Students with disabilities, specific learning differences such as dyslexia and short-term conditions (e.g. broken limbs, pregnancy) can apply to the Disability and Dyslexia Service for Examination Access Arrangements (EAA). These arrangements are managed by the Disability and Dyslexia Service (DDS).

DDS works with students to determine appropriate adjustments, in line with Queen Mary University of London’s legal duty to provide reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act (2010).

Applications for EAA must be accompanied by supporting evidence, such as a diagnostic letter/report or a JCQ Form 8.  If you are not sure whether your evidence is sufficient, please apply with what you have, and the Disability and Dyslexia Service will be able to advise.  QMUL is committed to becoming the "most inclusive university of its kind, anywhere" (QMUL Strategy 2030) and DDS will endeavour to support your application wherever possible.

How to Apply

Students should complete the EAA application form available via MySIS by the deadline published on the Disability and Dyslexia Service webpage. This deadline is the final date by which DDS can guarantee arrangements will be in place for end-of-teaching or year-end exams.

Late applications may still be considered, but there is no guarantee that they will be in place for that academic year’s examinations. If you feel you cannot take the examinations without examination access arrangements, you can declare yourself not ‘fit to sit’ the exam and apply for extenuating circumstances.
