11.2. Notification of Examination Dates
The QMUL Examinations Office governs all examinations.
Examination Timetables
Examination dates are set by the University and cannot be changed.
- Individual examination dates and times will be published on your MySIS portal.
- You can also view the full University examination period dates via the QMUL Exam Timetable webpage.
- Please refer to the Key Dates section of this handbook for the relevant examination period.
- All examination times are published in UK time, and students are responsible for ensuring they log in at the correct time.
Availability During the Examination Period
The examination period forms part of the University's official term dates, and you are expected to be in the UK during this time.
- Examinations may be scheduled in either the morning or afternoon.
- You should not make travel, holiday, work, or other commitments that may prevent you from taking an examination at the scheduled date and time.
- If you plan to complete an online examination outside the UK, you must refer to the Student Engagement section of this Handbook and submit a Short-Term Leave and Authorised Absence Request.
Examination Preparation
To help prepare for the assessment period, students are advised to:
- Review their examination timetable as soon as it is released.
- Ensure they are available for the entire assessment period.
- Plan their revision and preparation for all examinations in advance.
- Review the relevant module syllabus and assessment information.
- Read any examination guidance provided on QMplus and during teaching.
- Check module-specific instructions, including examination format, duration and any permitted materials (where applicable).
- Contact the relevant Module Convenor or Programme Director if they have questions that are not addressed in the available guidance.

Timetable and Scheduling Issues
If, after your examination timetable has been published, you believe there is a timetable or scheduling issue, such as an examination missing from your timetable, contact the PG Law Assessment Team as soon as possible.
Please note that this does not include requests to change an examination date or time due to personal, travel or work commitments.
Student Responsibilities:
- Checking your examination timetable.
- Attending or accessing examinations at the published date and time.
- Ensuring you are familiar with the examination format and submission requirements.
Past Examination Papers
Past examination papers can be a useful revision aid. Students should also review any module-specific guidance provided by the teaching team.
Important Notes
- It is your responsibility to sit and submit all examinations at the scheduled date and time.
- Examination dates and times cannot be changed to accommodate personal, travel or work commitments.
- The PG Law Office cannot amend examination schedules or make individual scheduling arrangements.
Extenuating Circumstances
If unforeseen circumstances affect your ability to sit or submit an examination, you may be eligible to apply under the University's Extenuating Circumstances Policy.
