3. Extenuating Circumstances (ECs)

3.1. Fit-to-sit policy

By submitting work or sitting an exam, you are declaring yourself fit to do so.

If an assessment of any type is attempted or submitted then that attempt will be marked. Any subsequent claim for extenuating circumstances will only be considered where the student can evidence that they were not well enough to make an informed decision about their fitness to sit and would require evidence.

It is the student’s responsibility to consider the risks of starting an exam if they are feeling unwell. Approved ECs grant a certified absence for the next attempt - they do not permit late submissions to be marked.
