I have written some short multiple-choice quizzes on Kahoot! for you to practice your group theory skills.
Just use the Kahoot! app on your phone and search for MTH6106. So far there are seven quizzes, each with six questions. I'll be adding more as we go through the course.
Please let me know if you have trouble finding the quizzes, or any suggestions for what I could include in future quizzes.
Theappear below. They are deliberately not divided up into individual lectures, because they are supposed to form a continuous coherent body of material, and the places where the breaks between lectures come are immaterial.
I'll also be adding some supplementary notes to explain certain topics better.
Please let me know of any mistakes you find (even typos) or anything you think could be explained better.
Coursework questions will appear below, with solutions posted after the hand-in deadline.
Past exam papersPast papers appear below, as a revision aid. I've included all the papers from the last eight years - before this, the lecturer and the syllabus were different.
Note that these papers are for the old version of the module MTH6104 Algebraic Structures II. However, the only thing that has changed is the name and module code - otherwise it's the same module, so these past papers will be very useful revision material for MTH6106.
I have shortened the syllabus slightly over the years, so a few of the questions from the past papers are not relevant; so please ignore (or at least don't worry if you can't do) the following questions:
2013 Late-summer: 4a, 4b
In 2017 and earlier the exam rubric was different: you could choose which questions to answer. The rubric for this module is now "answer all questions", as for most other undergraduate exams.
